Why Tethered

Guests are asking for rest. We'll do the heavy lifting.

Rest is now the main reason people travel, and it is genuinely hard for a property to deliver beyond the physical room. The barriers are real ones - time, specialist craft, and another system to own - and Tethered is built so you don't have to solve any of the three.

The case, in four numbers

Four numbers behind the opportunity.

68%
Travel to rest

Resting and recharging is the biggest reason people travel, across every generation - Gen X 68%, Boomers 67%, Millennials 60%, Gen Z 55%.

<30%
Sleep better than expected

Fewer than three in ten hotel guests report a better than expected night's sleep. The gap shows up in reviews.

41%
Premium per guest

International wellness travellers spend 41% more per trip than typical international tourists.

+114
Satisfaction lift

Guests reporting better than expected sleep rate their whole stay 114 points higher on a 1,000-point scale.

What guests want

They booked a room. They came for rest.

Across every generation surveyed, rest is the leading reason people travel, with more emphasis on sleep than at any point Hilton has measured. Wellness tourism passed $1 trillion in 2024, and sleep tourism alone is worth $75.7bn heading to $118.7bn by 2030.

Fewer than 30% of guests sleep better than expected. Operators have already spent on the physical levers - mattresses, blackout blinds, acoustics. The remaining gap is a mental one: the part a room spec cannot fix, and the part guests write about afterwards.

Scotland is unusually well placed here. Guests already travel to the Highlands, the coast, and the islands for quiet and for landscape. A wellness library that speaks to where they actually are turns that expectation into something they can hear in the room.

The real blocker

The barriers are real. So we removed them.

Almost every operator we speak to has already thought about guest wellness. What holds it up is practical and completely understandable.

Time is the scarcest resource

Staffing pressure across Scottish hospitality is well documented, and a wellness programme is rarely the thing with slack around it. Tethered is built to need hours from your team, not months.

It's a specialist craft

Composition, sound design, narration, and a clinical sensibility are a rare mix to hold in-house. We bring it with us, already trained on twenty years of methodology.

Nobody wants another system

Properties already carry plenty of platforms. Tethered sits alongside what exists rather than asking you to move anything.

Partners should be low-maintenance

We set the programme up once with you, then it runs quietly in the background on a refresh cycle you never have to chase.

Source on staffing pressure: American Hotel & Lodging Association staffing survey (February 2024), where 67% of surveyed hotels reported being short-staffed; UK and Scottish hospitality vacancy rates have followed a similar pattern.

What implementation involves

What we'll need from you fits on one page.

What we need from you
  • One scoping conversation, around 45 minutes.
  • Brand assets - logo, colours, and a few property images.
  • A short description of the property, its setting, and your guests.
  • One named contact for sign-off.
  • Approval of the finished library, with as many notes as you like.
What we do
  • Onboarding and scoping, led by us.
  • Library composition, reviewed by our team before you ever see it.
  • Branding and delivery assets - branded guest app, QR codes, in-room cards, staff copy.
  • Dashboard and reporting setup.
  • Quarterly refreshes on schedule, with nothing to request or chase.
Timeline

Scoping call to live guests in two to four weeks.

01

Scoping call

Around 45 minutes. No preparation needed - we ask the questions.

02

Onboarding

Assets and property detail once, usually inside a single email thread.

03

Composed and reviewed

We build the library, QA it, and send it for approval with notes per track.

04

Live

Branded app and delivery assets go to rooms. Most properties are live in two to four weeks.

No IT project

Nothing to integrate. Nothing to maintain.

  • No PMS or booking-system integration.
  • No app-store submission, developer time, or hardware.
  • No staff training beyond a one-page briefing sheet.
  • Works alongside an existing guest app, in-room TV or tablet system via licensed content.
  • Nothing to host, patch, or maintain.
Delivery

Three ways to deliver.

Take it as a whitelabel guest app, into your in-room TV or tablet system, or embedded into your existing app. A whitelabel app is one option, not the only one, and routes can be mixed across properties.

Whitelabel guest app

Branded to your property or group, opened by QR code in the room. Custom domain optional, no app store download.

In-room TV, casting or tablet

Delivered through the in-room hardware your property already runs, so guests find it where they already look.

Embedded into your existing app or portal

Content packs licensed into your own guest app, in-room system or PMS guest portal, so you keep your front end.

Once you're live

Running Tethered stays light.

Your monthly involvement

Look at the dashboard when it's useful. There's no content calendar to keep and no penalty for a quiet month.

Who handles refreshes

We do, automatically, on your tier's quarterly cycle. Nothing to request, nothing to chase.

Where reporting comes from

One dashboard across your properties, with account-managed reviews included on Hotel Groups programmes.

Two ways in

Hand it over entirely. Or do the onboarding yourself.

Managed delivery - our standard

We run it for you

We handle onboarding, composition, branding, and go-live, then keep the programme refreshed on schedule. Included as standard on Hotel Groups and Multi-Property programmes, and available on Single Property as a one-off £199 add-on.

Self-serve - the budget option

You run the onboarding

Around an hour in a guided onboarding flow, choosing your library from the full 250+ catalogue. Live in days rather than weeks, and available on Single Property and Multi-Property.

All prices exclude VAT, charged at the standard UK rate of 20%.

FAQ

The questions we hear most often.

Start with a 45-minute conversation.

Tell us about the property, the setting, and your guests. We'll come back with what a programme would look like, and what it would cost.
